Photo and video consent
Definition
Photo and video consent is the patient's separate, written permission for how and where their image may be used; it is independent of consent to treatment and can be withdrawn.
Why is a separate consent needed?
A photo taken for treatment is health data and may be used only for treatment. Sharing the same image on your site or on social media is a different purpose and needs the patient's separate, explicit consent. Nothing may be given in return for consent, whether payment, discount or gift.
On channels aimed at people in Türkiye, before-and-after images and patient accounts are already restricted by the regulation; on the authorised channel aimed abroad they are possible on condition of documented explicit consent. Write the scope of the consent (which image, which channel, for how long) and let the patient withdraw it.
